Consider One Text through the Lens of Another

Instructions:

In no more than 500 words, write a concise and precise, cohesive essay in which you do each of the following:

  1. define and explain Perspectivism and its origination;
  2. summarize Michael Lacewing’s “Nietzsche’s Perspectivism” and R.N. Carmona’s “Clarifying Nietzsche’s Perspectivism”–be sure to identify each of their major claims (aka, thesis statements); (I have attached the file)
  3. determine how Carmona’s text clarifies (makes clearer), extends (adds to), or complicates (makes more confusing or complex) Michael Lacewing’s text. (I have attached the file)

Requirements:

  1. Answer all parts of the prompt in a cohesive essay, not three individual answers.
  2. “Summary” means to capture the essence of, not retell. The summary for these texts should be completed in 1-2 sentences.
  3. Create strong topic sentences and transitions between ideas and paragraphs–lead your reader through your discussion.
  4. Illustrate mastery of MLA, including in-text citation and the Works Cited page. Do not double space, though.
  5. Do not drop quotes in (also called hit-and-run quotes)–be sure to integrate them with your own words and ideas. Do not use block quotes (quotes over four lines in length); they are not a good idea when writing a timed response.
  6. Proofread, proofread, proofread. Careful proofreading is required to complete college-level work.
  7. A fully developed introduction and conclusion are not required, as long as you respond to all of the prompt.
  8. Place your word count in parenthesis at the bottom of the page.
